To celebrate the launch of the “Jewish Neighborhood Voices” online exhibit, the Wyner Family Jewish Heritage Center is hosting a lively community reception.

Join us to:

  • Hear stories about growing up in Chelsea, Lynn, Roxbury and Dorchester in the last century
  • Learn about 20th-century Jewish history
  • Be transported to a delicatessen of the 1940s/50s
  • Meet “Jewish Neighborhood Voices” oral history narrators
  • Enjoy deli-style refreshments and good company!

The event will include a speaking program and audience Q&A starting at 2:30 p.m. featuring Ellen Smith, renowned historian and editor of “The Jews of Boston,” and Judith Monachina, director of the Housatonic Heritage Oral History Center at Berkshire Community College and “Jewish Neighborhood Voices” humanities advisor.

Jewish dietary laws will be observed. Dress code: 1940s/50s-themed attire optional.

This event is for everyone! Whether you grew up in one of these neighborhoods of Greater Boston during the 20th century, live in Chelsea, Lynn, Roxbury or Dorchester now, are interested in learning more about the history of Jewish immigrant neighborhoods, or just want an opportunity to wear vintage clothing, this event is for you.
