December 15, 2015 Newton Centre 0

Michael Fishbane, the Nathan Cummings Distinguished Service Professor of Jewish Studies at the University of Chicago, will discuss his recently published JPS Commentary on “Shir Ha-Shirim” (“The Song of Songs”). He will consider the role and responsibility of the Bible commentator over the centuries, with special emphasis on the challenges of our time. He will share his vision of “The Song of Songs” as a multilayered work.
