The Sisterhood of Temple Emmanuel invites the community to an afternoon of talk and music with Elizabeth Splaine. Elizabeth began her career as a health care worker before becoming a professional opera singer and voice teacher. Fifteen years later, her creative mind turned to writing! Beth has written several books, including a medical thriller, “Devil’s Grace,” and “Swan Song,” a World War II historical fiction novel. Beth’s most recent book, “Steel Butterflies,” was released in April 2023. She now combines a career in both music and writing.

Although her recent book is a fascinating look into the world of German opera through the eyes of a “mischling,” a half-Jewish opera singer during the 1930s, there are messages for our times. The book holds interest for both music lovers and those who love a fast-paced historical novel. Elizabeth’s book features historical events, places and people. There is a gripping love story wrapped in a dramatic war thriller that has readers turning pages until the breathtaking ending. Understanding World War II is more important than ever.

Elizabeth’s presentation at Temple Emmanuel is sure to be enjoyed by those 12 to 92. Attendees will learn about her journey from health care worker to singer and author. She will perform several songs that complement characters from her books.
