Join JALSA and other Jewish young professionals for an evening of lively discussion as we hone in on the most pressing issues facing residents of our commonwealth. This event will highlight a pending piece of Massachusetts legislation and an organizer fighting for progressive policy reforms. Come alone or bring friends!

Join Jonathan Paz, Waltham City councilor, union rep and activist for NoProp22MA to discuss the grassroots alliance of workers and advocates, labor unions, civil rights, faith-based organizations and other public interest groups that have come together to oppose a campaign by Uber, Lyft and other big tech companies to undermine workers’ rights. Through HB 1234, big gig employers are attempting to rewrite long-standing law to exclude hundreds of thousands of workers—who are disproportionately Black, brown and immigrants—from fundamental rights and protections. The companies are attempting to put this question on the ballot and could spend hundreds of millions on a campaign, as they did in California in 2020 to pass Proposition 22. Join Jonathan and JALSA to learn about our fight to protect and expand worker rights and advance racial and economic justice.

Remember to register in advance, and JALSA will buy the refreshments! Space is limited. To take COVID-19 precautions, the event will be outside (but there are heaters!).
