“Rethinking Reproduction” will employ deep readings of Jewish text to explore questions at the heart of debates around reproductive justice: How do we make—and talk about—individual and communal choices around having and raising children? How do we build societies that reflect our values surrounding human life, the sanctity of our bodies, bodily integrity and autonomy?

Explore topics ranging from the nature of personhood to the experience of infertility; from care taking to the evolution of the “Jewish family.”

At the conclusion of the course, participants will choose from a range of action options, including supporting a local organization dealing with a challenge addressed in our learning and/or teaching about reproductive justice through a Jewish lens in a local Jewish secondary or day school.

Sponsored by CJP, Open Circle Social Action is part of Hebrew College’s Open Circle Jewish Learning, which brings together small groups of curious, engaged learners with exceptional educators to dive into an array of compelling topics and practices.
