In the wake of October 7, some Jewish communities and institutions in North America have reported a rise in engagement—a phenomenon widely referred to as “the surge.”

But how steady is the surge? Who is sustaining engagement, who is stepping back, and who is missing? Is any rise in post-10/7 engagement a momentary blip or the beginning of a lasting transformation in Jewish life?

Join CASJE for a thought-provoking conversation that draws on data and insights from leading institutions in contemporary Jewish life to deepen our understanding of Jewish engagement today—and to clarify what we know and what remains to be explored.

The panel is moderated by Dr. Sasha Volodarsky and professor Michael Feuer, with panelists from Hillel International, Jewish Federations of North America, Prizmah, UJA Federation New York and Union for Reform Judaism. Hosted by the Collaborative for Applied Studies in Jewish Education.
