In this course, “Torah, Mysteries, Scientific Advances and Secret Knowledge: Ways of Relating Judaism and Science in Jewish Thought and Law,” we’ll explore legal and theological strategies employed in resolving seeming conflicts of Torah and science and discuss how our investigation of these strategies may better direct the use of ancient sources to address contemporary issues.
Each of our sessions will be devoted to particular topics with suggested readings. Rabbi Louis Polisson will join Rabbi Samuels in teaching the last session. The sessions will take place on June 27, July 11, July 18 and July 25, from 7:30-9:30 p.m.
