Temple Shir Tikva is pleased to announce the launch of its new “Hero Among Us” Award, an annual honor recognizing individuals from the broader community who have made a meaningful difference.
The congregation is proud to present the inaugural award to former Wayland Chief of Police Ed Burman. Ed will be recognized during Shabbat services, followed by a festive celebration in his honor.
Recipients of the award are not members of Temple Shir Tikva, but are chosen for leadership, generosity, and service that positively impact the synagogue and the MetroWest community. Burman became acting chief of the Wayland Police Department in 2022 and was appointed permanently to the role the following year. He retired in 2025 after a 32-year career in law enforcement.
