Temple Shir Tikva will host Massachusetts State Representative Simon Cataldo for a public conversation with Rabbi Danny Burkeman. The event is part of the congregation’s ongoing series bringing leaders from across the Boston Jewish community to MetroWest to discuss their work, the challenges they see ahead, and the role of synagogues in shaping the community’s future.
Representative Cataldo has been a leading voice in the effort to combat antisemitism in Massachusetts. He was appointed by the House to co-chair the Special Commission on Combatting Antisemitism, which released its final report and recommendations last winter. The conversation will explore the commission’s findings, the state of Jewish life in the commonwealth, and how communities and congregations can respond.
Representative Cataldo represents the 14th Middlesex District in the Massachusetts House of Representatives, which includes Acton, Carlisle, Chelmsford, and Concord. Before joining the Legislature, he taught special education math in Harlem with Teach for America and founded Harlem Lacrosse, a national nonprofit. He also served as a federal prosecutor in the U.S. Department of Justice’s Public Integrity Section during the Obama and first Trump administrations.
