Welcome to Yiddishland
"Welcome to Yiddishland" (Promotional still)

“Welcome to Yiddishland” is a snapshot of the Yiddish cultural renaissance of this moment. Featuring the leaders and tastemakers of this tradition, this film highlights the youth and vibrancy of Yiddish that has always been at the core.

Through intimate interviews and rare behind-the-scenes access to some of the world’s top musicians and performers working in Yiddish, the film showcases the innovative works of artists who use this ancient language as a vehicle for addressing contemporary issues such as queer identity, the refugee crisis, war and authoritarianism.

Film co-producer Lisa Newman of the Yiddish Book Center will join us for a post screening conversation (complete with babka!).

Bonus note: If you are a Vilna fan you may recognize a few of our favorite colleagues and performers in the film, including Caraid Obrien.
