The Yom HaShoah Community Holocaust Commemoration will include a keynote talk from professor Omer Bartov entitled: “Anatomy of a Genocide: The Life and Death of a Town Called Buczacz.”

Local veterans will open the program with the Posting of the Colors. During the ceremony, the Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies will honor the Holocaust survivors, families of late survivors and recognize their Holocaust Legacy Partners who represent them in classrooms and elsewhere. Children and grandchildren of Holocaust survivors will join the Holocaust survivors for the traditional Generations Candle-Lighting Ceremony. Students from regional schools will present their work on the Holocaust. The Salem State University Women’s Chorale will perform under the direction of Susan Shane. Cantor Elana Rozenfeld of Congregation Shirat Hayam in Swampscott will recite special memorial prayers.

The event is free and open to the public.

If you would like to put a Tribute or Memory into our Yom HaShoah Tribute book, please call the Center at 978-542-2314 and someone will be able to assist you.
