???? Women’s Rosh Chodesh Circle – Shvat
Join us to celebrate the Women’s Rosh Chodesh Circle for the month of Shvat — a Jewish holiday traditionally reserved for women and the new moon. Rosh Chodesh is a time for connection, community, and renewal.
Our Shvat gathering is open to all Jewish women, with no background in Torah learning required. Whether you are curious, experienced, or simply seeking connection, you are welcome. We will begin the evening with a simple candle-lighting ritual, a familiar nigun (wordless melody), and a blessing to create a warm and grounding space.
Together, we will explore the themes and energy of the month of Shvat. Shvat is closely connected to Tu BiSh’vat, the New Year of Trees, inviting reflection on growth, renewal, and our relationship with the natural world. Through conversation and shared experience, we will explore what renewal can look like in our own lives and communities. As the evening unfolds, we will touch on Jewish perspectives on nature and environmental responsibility. This includes a short video from Rabbi Jonathan Sacks (z”l) offering insight into our role as caretakers of the Earth.
We will also enjoy a playful and thoughtful discussion around the question, “Do trees talk?” — uncovering ancient ideas about the hidden language and wisdom of the natural world. In the spirit of Tikkun Olam, we will introduce a simple composting and soil sustainability project — a practical way to care for the Earth and take meaningful action.
We will also honor Tu BiSh’vat by tasting carob and elements of the seven species of Israel. Light refreshments will be provided.
No Rosh Chodesh Circle is complete without a Woman of Valor. We will learn who represents this month and how her story can inspire us today. The circle will close with a poem and chant aligned with Shvat’s themes. This gathering is for Jewish women seeking connection, community, and reflection. If you are drawn to nature, sustainability, and Jewish values — or if you simply want a gentle, soulful space to mark the new moon — this circle is for you.
Come as you are. Let us connect, reflect, and grow together.
