Our stories keep memories alive. Digital storytelling, using computer-based audio/visual tools, allows everyday people to share their stories in a 21st-century way.
Four JGSGB members, Linda Levine, Gilda Bruckman, Jill Roff and Jeanne Eberhart, will each share their unique stories via short videos (each under 5 minutes) and explain how they turned genealogical research into a video using resources of the Cambridge Public Library and Cambridge CCTV. You will experience how compelling family stories can be when presented through this wonderful new tool.
Linda Levine founded a genealogy study group in 1982 that became our society, the JGSGB, and served as one of our first co-presidents. She holds a certificate in genealogical research from Boston University.
Gilda Bruckman, who tutors writing at Cambridge College, has traced a branch of her Polish family back to the 18th century. Her genealogical focus is on the potential power of visual imagery and graphics for engaging family members.
Jill R. Roff is a retired law librarian and foreign language teacher who enjoys applying her research and language skills to genealogical research.
Jeanne Eberhart has been interested in genealogy ever since her fifth grade teacher assigned building a family tree. Decades later, with the advent of Ancestry.com and other sophisticated tools, she was hooked.
