Explore Vilna, known as “the Jerusalem of Lithuania,” once European Jewry’s intellectual, spiritual and political capital. Daniel Gurevich will begin the program with a brief overview of Lithuanian history and Vilnius’ place in it. Then through a virtual tour of Vilnius, including many personal stories, our journey will focus on the city’s dynamic, painful and rich history, the enduring legacy of the Vilna Gaon and the sometimes-contentious contemporary rebirth taking place within the local Jewish community.

Gurevich is a native of Vilnius and serves as general manager of the Jerulita Travel Agency. He leads tours that center on Jewish heritage, history, religion and culture, specifically including the Holocaust and relations between Jews and other local people. He has spoken extensively about Vilnius and Lithuania.
