Sharon rabbis of different backgrounds and congregations will come together to share their similarities and differences on Sunday morning, Oct. 30, at 9:30 a.m., at Temple Sinai, 25 Canton St., in Sharon.

This year’s annual Vera and Stanley Marshall Lecture is titled “Rabbis Speak Words of Truth and Peace” and features a panel of rabbis all serving Sharon congregations. The panel will compare and contrast their relationships with Torah. The rabbis will not only share with one another, but also accept questions from the audience through moderator Sandy Slavet, president of Temple Sinai, as time allows. Please come in the spirit of learning, challenge and openness. This is a great opportunity to meet and learn from the rabbis of Sharon.

Participating on the panel will be Rabbi Noah Cheses (an Orthodox rabbi from Young Israel of Sharon), Rabbi Ron Fish and Rabbi Rachel Silverman (Conservative rabbis of Temple Israel of Sharon), and Rabbi Joseph Meszler (a Reform rabbi of Temple Sinai of Sharon).

Rabbi Ron Fish came to Temple Israel in 2015. He was ordained in 1996 from the Jewish Theological Seminary of America. He has received awards in Jewish Theology for his work with Dr. Neil Gillman and in Israeli society for his work at Neve Hana, a home for Israeli children from dysfunctional families.

Rabbi Rachel Silverman joined the Temple Israel community this year. Rabbi Silverman, who grew up in Easton, graduated from Brandeis University with a degree in Near Eastern and Judaic Studies and from the Davidson School with a Masters in Jewish Education. She was ordained from the Jewish Theological Seminary in 2010. For the past five years, Rabbi Silverman has served at Congregation Kehillath Israel in Brookline as Rabbi for Congregational Learning.

Rabbi Noah Cheses recently joined Young Israel of Sharon. Previously, he served as Assistant Rabbi at Shaarei Shomayim, a 700family Modern Orthodox shul in Toronto. Prior to that, he was Associate Rabbi and Jewish Learning Initiative on Campus Educator at Yale University. While there, he earned a Masters in Religion. Rabbi Cheses earned his B.A. in Philosophy from Yeshiva College in 2008 and his Semicha from Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary in 2011.

Rabbi Joseph B. Meszler is the spiritual leader of Temple Sinai. He writes a regular blog on the Huffington Post and has authored several books and articles, including Facing Illness Finding God, A Man’s Responsibility, and Witnesses to the One: the Spiritual History of the Sh’ma (Jewish Lights). Rabbi Meszler was ordained at Hebrew Union College in Cincinnati in 1999. He served Washington Hebrew Congregation for six years before coming to Sharon in 2005.

The Vera and Stanley Marshall Lecture is an annual program that has brought respected scholars from many fields to Temple Sinai. This program reflects Stanley and Vera’s love of learning and always takes place near Vera’s Yahrzeit.
