Shabbat Tzedek with Segun Idowu

January 15, 2016 Boston

A native of the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston, Segun Idowu is the co-organizer of the Boston Police Camera Action Team (BPCAT), whose mission is to further accountability and safety in Boston through the mandatory use of police body cameras. Idowu has built relationships with community organizations and leaders to explore the issues surrounding body cameras, and has been instrumental in the upcoming body camera pilot program in Boston, beginning in April 2016.

Idowu is a 2012 Phi Beta Kappa and Cum Laude graduate of Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in History. Following graduation, he moved back to Boston to serve as intern-turned-legislative-aide for former City Councilor Charles C. Yancey. Idowu is currently the Visitor Services Manager at the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate, and is engaged in inspiring grassroot movements to reform civic policies pertaining to racial justice. Join us for an inspirational evening that will prompt the conversation of race and justice in our community, and how to advance our pursuit of King’s dream.
