Temple Emanu-El in Haverhill is pleased to announce that Angela Himsel will be speaking about her memoir, “A River Could Be a Tree,” which traces her personal journey to Judaism. One of 11 children in a devout evangelical Christian family in rural Indiana, today she is a practicing Jew living in Manhattan. “A River Could Be a Tree” is an odyssey of love and faith, told in a voice mixed with pathos and humor. Himsel’s story is “an intriguing tale of one woman’s search for identity and community” (Kirkus Review).
Copies of “A River Could Be a Tree” will be available for purchase and signing following the program. A continental breakfast will be served at 9:30 a.m., followed by the presentation at 10 a.m.
To help us plan, RSVP by contacting the temple office at Nancy@TempleEmanu-El.org or 978-373-3861. Walk-ins will also be welcome.
Temple Emanu-El would like to thank its patrons, Cowan Insurance Agency, Stuart Mandell (in memory of his beloved wife, Ada), and Smith Motors Company of Haverhill, and its sponsors, H. L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Homes and Pentucket Bank, for their generous support of its 2019 Author Series.+ More... - Less...
