The emotional health of our young people was suffering prior to 2020. As we now emerge from a time like no other, teens need strategies to reduce and prevent the negative impacts of anxiety, stress and depression, both at school and home.

Going beyond the basic information most people have already heard, this webinar program will show parents and teachers how to help teens tolerate uncertainty, understand the links between anxiety and depression and pay particular attention to the role of social media in our social and emotional lives.

The webinar will be led by Lynn Lyons, LICSW. Lynn travels internationally as a speaker and trainer on the subject of anxiety, its role in families and the need for a preventative approach at home and in schools. She is a sought-after expert, appearing in The New York Times, Time, NPR, Psychology Today and other media outlets. With a special interest in breaking the generational cycle of worry in families, Lynn is the author of several books and articles on anxiety, including “Anxious Kids, Anxious Parents: 7 Ways to Stop the Worry Cycle and Raise Courageous & Independent Children” and the companion book for kids, “Playing with Anxiety: Casey’s Guide for Teens and Kids.” She is the co-host of the popular podcast “Flusterclux.”

The webinar will also feature a teen speaker who will share her own mental health journey. This webinar is part of Gateways’ ongoing series on girls’ mental health and wellness, sponsored by the Miriam Fund of CJP.

This webinar is presented by Gateways’ Mental Health Initiative in partnership with Parenting with Purpose and the Ruderman Synagogue Inclusion Project.
