Purim with Puppets and
Guest Cantor-in-Residence Weekend Cantor Shana Onigman
*Saturday Evening March 15th at 7pm: Purim Family Service with Puppets
Join members of Temple Emmanuel of Wakefield for a special holiday Shabbat weekend and the reading of the Megillah. Purim costumes are optional for kids and adults.Of course there will be merriment and refreshments. Purim is a Jewish historical holiday commemorating the deliverance of the Jewish people in ancient Persia where there had been a plot to destroy them. There is King and his evil Prime Minister and a lovely new bride. The day of deliverance became a day of feasting and rejoicing.

Cantor Shana Onigman found her passion – and career – when she was a Bennington College undergraduate, and selected as to lead High Holiday services at Temple Emmanuel in Wakefield. She was able to combine her love of music, voice, and Judaism, and a Cantor was born! Cantor Onigman has recently served as full-time cantor at Congregation B’nai Israel in Basking Ridge NJ, 2007-2013.
Cantor Shana will also lead the Friday Night Shabbat Service, March 14 at 8:00PM and the
Saturday Morning Shabbat Service, March 15 9:30AM
Temple Emmanuel of Wakefield is now is a Reconstructionist congregation. Membership comes from over ten surrounding towns.
