In the tradition of Congregation Shalom’s founding families, our High Holiday services are open to members and non-members alike, with no purchasing of seats. If you are looking for a spiritual home during the High Holidays, you are welcome to join us for one or more of these services led by Rabbi Shoshana Perry, with Meryl Gold as cantorial soloist.

We offer a variety of services to meet the spiritual needs of our diverse, multi-generational community. Come and join our congregational family for a spiritually deep High Holiday experience, rich with prayer, music, reflection and learning. The services begin on Tuesday evening with the beautiful and solemn Kol Nidrei service and end on Wednesday evening with Yizkor, Neilah with blowing of the shofar and Havdallah services.

Among our Yom Kippur services and programs, there are two designed with children in mind. At our 9 a.m. Yom Kippur Family Service, geared for families with children in grades 2 through 6, the prayerbook is designed for children from 8 to 12 years old. We use traditional melodies and maintain a sense of sacredness, but there is a shorter sermon that speaks to all members of the family. This service is not for younger children, who are very welcome at the 1:45 p.m. Young Children’s Yom Kippur Program. The Young Children’s program, What Bees Can Teach Us About Being a Community, is for children from toddler through about age 7 and will be led by Rabbi Perry and a local bee farmer.

Throughout the Yom Kippur activities we welcome donations to our collection for local food pantries, with either nonperishable food items or arrangements for the purchase of a grocery store gift card available in increments of $25.

Following the evening Yizkor/Neilah/Havdallah service we provide a break-fast for attendees who want to partake of the traditional meal after services. If you plan to attend the break-fast, please email office@congregationshalom.org by noon on October 8 with break-fast in the subject line, and give the number of people that you will bring to the break-fast, including yourself; thanks for your cooperation.
