Rostropovich

Unique concert presentation exploring the creative exchange between the legendary cellist Mstislav Rostropovich and Soviet Jewish composers. Rostropovich’s student, renowned cellist Yosif Feigelson, honors the 90th anniversary of Rostropovich’s birth, and the 10th anniversary of his passing with a live performance interpolating stories and images contextualizing this interesting musical legacy.

Feigelson will highlight compositions associated with his famous teacher-mentor including works composed for Rostropovich by composers of Jewish heritage, such as Moishe (Mieczyslaw) Weinberg and Alfred Schnittke, as well as selections by Bach and Britten.
